  • 1 pack Betty Crocker® Devil's Food Cake Mix
  • 300 ml / 10 fl oz water
  • 75 ml / 2½ fl oz vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • Orange food colour

  • 1. Preheat oven to 180°C*/350°F/Gas Mark 4.

    2. Place paper cake cases in each of 24 regular muffin tins, or grease bottom only of cups.

    3. Beat cake mix, water, oil and eggs in large bowl on low speed for 1 minute, scraping bowl constantly (do not over beat); or stir 2 minutes by hand. Fill paper baking cases two thirds full of batter.

    4. Bake for 18 to 25 minutes or until a cocktail stick inserted in the centre comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes in pan. Remove to wire rack and cool completely.

    5. Make orange frosting by stirring a few drops of food colouring into frosting; spread on cupcakes.

    6. Squeeze circles of decorating icing on to each cupcake; pull knife from centre outwards to make web. Use two pastilles for each cupcake to make spider - roll out 1 pastille and cut 8 strips for legs. Keep second to form body. Place spider on cupcakes. Store loosely covered.
